We offer a selection of our most popular products in 1.2kg pails. The only difference is quantity; we use exactly the same production methods. Crellow is name checked by a number of our pubs, bistros and cafes, and some even sell jars to take home. Many customers like to use our products and sell a few jars for people to take home.
Distribution of 1.2kg pails:
Our complete range, subject to seasonal availability, is on sale through Plough to Plate. A limited range is sold through West Country Fruit Sales. Unfortunately we cannot offer a courier service but you are welcome to pick up from us direct.
Special Orders:
We offer a 'special orders' service during the winter months for larger clients or customers seeking products not normally available in pails. If you would like to talk to us about this please ring 01872 530853, before the end of October. Please note we don't produce for 'own label' brands.
Apple and Onion Chutney
The first Crellow chutney and a good one to start with if you are new to traditional chutney! A simple and tasty combination of Bramley apples, onions, Demerara sugar a bit of lemon, rind and juice, a few sultanas is fruity and contains no chilli. Excellent with hard cheeses: good cheddar like the Davidstow Cornish Crackler, in a ploughman's lunch, or with ham, bacon or cheese in a sandwich.
Available all year.
Apple, Date and Ginger
Alight coloured delicately flavoured chutney with a spicy ginger kick, warm ginger not hot ginger and the richness of dates. We like it with ham, pork pie and hard cheeses. A number of consumers tell us they like it on toast as a marmalade, not as sweet and easily spreadable. Goes well in toasted sandwiches.
Available all year
Beetroot Relish

ONE STAR GREAT TASTE AWARD 2008, 2009
TWO STAR GREAT TASTE AWARD 2010
Forget all your school memories of beetroot no strong vinegar flavour or a crinkle cut in sight! A totally alternative beast! Soft, rich, true flavour with beetroots grown by a local farmer, we only use them while the size of tennis balls, a little apple, onion, sugar and yes some vinegar, creating a soft and chunky texture in a rich as crimson velvet colour.
A versatile product, try it in all sorts of settings:
- Serve alongside cold meat and cheese including chicken or smoke mackerel.
- Mix with a bit of greek yoghurt or creme fraiche and eat with smoked or roasted salmon.
- Mix in a little olive oil, some chopped parsley and a squeeze of lemon juice as part of a Middle Eastern mezze platter especially those containing houmous or chickpea salads.
Available almost all year, might be in short supply in June & July
Father's Favourite Chutney
The recipe for this chutney comes from a Cornish man who lived near Liskeard until he died in 2010. An enthusiastic preserve and chutney maker his daughter has carried on the tradition, he is also the author of our recipe for Father's Favourite Marmalade.
From early Crellow days this has been our most popular product. Minced rather than chopped chutney, easily spreadable, very thick and fruity goes well with almost anything. Very high dried mixed fruit content, dates, sultanas, raisins and preserved stem ginger, uses all the Christmas spices and some chilli.
Many jars and 1.2kg pails have accompanied the three young men in this family to college and university.
Available all year.
Onion Relish
1 STAR GREAT TASTE AWARD 2011
Shredded red and white onions stewed with mustard seeds for texture and crunch adding lime to give the natural sweetness of the onions and interesting lift and a whiff of global influences. A light brown caramel colour and packed full of onions, it is onionier than onion marmalade but can be a perfect substitute.
The soft caramel sweetness is excellent with cheese on toast or in toasted sandwiches and we often spread it on grilling sausages to give them a glaze. We have also found it useful is an addition to making gravy and adding to casseroles.
Available all year.
Red Pepper Relish
A contemporary product red/brown colours including red onions, chunky notn creamy, the peppers and onions are gently stewed and softened. It is not at all 'spicy' or hot, just a lovely sweet pepper flavour. It goes well with Spanish food, chorizos and charcuterie in a tapas selection equally at home with grilled or roasted chicken and sausages.
I like this alone with nutty, malty bread and butter straight from the jar. Many chefs and caterers use this with cold meat platters with crisps for dipping; it is a versatile product especially with summer barbecues in mind.
Available almost all year, with a slight gap in the spring.
Chutty, Chutty, Bang, Bang,
ONE STAR GREAT TASTE AWARD 2010
The apples and onions in this chutney are very chunky and crisp. The fresh red chilli give slivers of colour and the ginger give a fiery bite at the end. Named a few years ago by the oldest of the sons here it was instantly popular and regularly earns its place in the top ten of our lines. It is excellent with strong cheddars and well flavoured cheeses. One of our local publicans uses it alongside a rich pork terrine. Others recommend it with creamier goat's cheeses and with Welsh Rarebit.
Available all year.
