Sweet Preserves

Father's Favourite Seville Marmalade

GREAT TASTE AWARD ONE STAR GOLD 2010
ARTISAN MARMALADE MAKERS COMPETITION BRONZE 2010

Another recipe from the father of our most popular Father's Favourite Chutney! A rich and traditional Marmalade that's slightly bitter with a chunky texture - it can only made in January/February using seasonal Spanish Sevilles and British sugar beet - doing our bit to keep British sugar beet growers in business! Once we run out we offer Summer Citrus or Rhubarb & Grapefruit Marmalade as an alternative.

Available: January - June depending on stocks

300g jars and 1.2kg pails to order

Quince Charming

TASTE OF THE WEST SILVER AWARD 2008

GREAT TASTE AWARD 1 GOLD STAR 2009

Quince Charming is a very versatile product:

  • Spread it on bread or toast.
  • Use as a filling for sponge cakes.
  • Use as a glaze for gammon or ham.
  • As an accompaniment for Stilton and other blue cheese.
Available between October & June

Kea Plum Jam

Kea (pronounced key) Plums are small green fleshed Cornish damsons. This deep purple jam is thick and quite sharp.  It can be used wherever jam is needed. We would like to see it take the place of the ubiquitous strawberry in a Cornish Cream tea

Availability: while stocks last usually September - June or so.

2011 Summer Newcomer

Apple Apricot and Cider Jam

Apple, Apricot and Cider Jam is the newcomer this summer.  We've been looking for an interesting jam that could fill the shoes of the Kea Plum Jam when it runs out and this lovely summery concoction is it.  We've steeped and cooked the apricots in Cornish Farmhouse Cider from Duloe added some apples and let it cook gently to setting point.

Lovely golden colour and apple, apricot and cider notes are easily distinguished.

Summer Citrus Marmalade

For those who find the sharp, dark flavour of Seville Oranges overwhelming this is an excellent alternative.  Made using sweet, eating oranges and some lemons it is lighter, sweeter and tangier.  We call it Summer Citrus because it can be made in the winter.

Availability: All year
300g jars
1.2kg pails (Easter - October)

Rhubarb and Grapefruit Marmalade

What were we to do with all that home-grown rhubarb?  This very lovely marmalade was developed on a whim.  It has a very soft set, is a light terracotta colour but tastes of both the rhubarb and the grapefruit.  We use up all our own rhubarb and some from neighbours and that's it.  So buy while you can.

Lovely swirled through rich greek yoghurt......

Available: June - October
